The Element Festivals

People have worked with the classical Greek Elements of Air, Water, Fire and Earth in their spiritual or psychological practice for centuries; The Element Festivals provide an opportunity to celebrate them. Each Element has one day a year dedicated to it, a time of honouring its power and celebrating our relationship with it. The Element Festivals are a great example of how the embodied pathways of connection can be applied in practice. Individuals or groups mark each Festival with rituals, dancing, meditation, creating artwork, having a party or enjoying that particular Element in nature. You’re especially encouraged to bring an environmental dimension to your celebrations:

The possibilities of how you might mark these occasions are as huge as your imagination! The Element Festival dates are evenly spread throughout the year, are not too close to existing festivals, and are seasonally relevant to one of the four classical Elements in the UK. You don’t have to stick to the UK attributions below: Please celebrate the Festivals at the times appropriate to your local ecosystem.

The Elemental Festivals can be celebrated any time around these dates, optionally extending over a week on either side. The core dates are:
– The Sunday nearest to February 23rd. In the UK, this is Spring and marks the Festival of Air.
– The Sunday nearest to May 25th. In the UK, this is in Summer and marks the Festival of Fire.
– The Sunday nearest to August 20th. In the UK, this is in Autumn and marks the Festival of Water.
– The Sunday nearest to November 25th. In the UK, we are approaching Winter, and this marks the Festival of Earth.
